THE SLEDGE PATROL
In one of the most remote and inhospitable regions of the planet, faced with the furious Arctic freeze, an unlikely unit of Danish, Norwegian and Greenlandic hunters find themselves confronted by an even more dangerous enemy when they are tasked to protect the Northeast coast of Greenland against Nazi infiltration. The missing piece of the World War Two chapter of our history, this film tells the story of the deadly and extraordinary circumstances that lead to astonishing feats of human resilience.

On 9th April 1940 Hitler’s troops invaded Denmark. A traumatic experience to a small peaceful nation it caused an even greater fear when the news arrived in Greenland. But in a story of sheer defiance and determination, the Danish colony of Greenland eluded Nazi occupation and came under American Allied protection in a series of events that began with the most daring of all political moves, when one man chose to ignore direct orders from his occupied government.

His bold move was the beginning of this remarkable story about a few brave men. By choice they lived solitary and humble in the Arctic Northeast Greenland far removed from civilization, peacefully surviving on their skills as hunters. They were men of few words but as events would soon show, they were men of great courage and action.

SUB ZERO SQUAD
At the most northern part of America, underneath the ice fog, is the frozen land they call the North Slope. A barren ice desert at the mercy of one of Mother Nature’s most hostile and furious tempers, living here demands stamina. As mighty as it is, rarely does the sun conquer the thick cover of clouds that seem permanently frozen in place above this Arctic region.

It is here, amidst the brutal sub zero temperatures and the vast pristine whiteness of the North Slope, that FBI trained, Chief of Police Kelly Alzaharna takes charge. In an environment that can be deadly, Kelly’s jurisdiction spans 89,000 frozen inhospitable and inaccessible square miles where the most violent perpetrators her team of police officers face are not usually the polar bears…

MOBILE MOTHERS OF SWEETWATERS
In a small community in South Africa a group of women are fighting against the political denial that HIV/AIDS is an epidemic crisis.

In the UK another small community are trying to help. Entirely run by volunteers, the charity Love Is All We Need is pushing to roll out an all-together different concept in the hope that the ever-increasing numbers of AIDS orphans can receive the care they need.

However, even small South African communities are heavily governed by politics and a hierarchy of leaders, making the task of lasting change problematic.
